Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and meticulous Hospital Cleaners to join our facilities team. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene across our hospital premises, ensuring a safe and sterile environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Full training will be provided to ensure you are confident and competent in all aspects of hospital cleaning protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning tasks in patient rooms, wards, offices, public areas, and communal spaces, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitising surfaces.
- Clean and disinfect washrooms, toilets, and clinical areas to strict hygiene standards.
- Manage and dispose of general and clinical waste in accordance with hospital policies and environmental regulations.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and hand sanitiser.
- Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or faulty equipment to the appropriate supervisor promptly.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and COSHH guidelines.
- Contribute to a positive and respectful environment, interacting professionally with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
Required Skills
- A strong work ethic and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Excellent attention to detail and thoroughness in all tasks.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform tasks that require bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Basic understanding of health and safety principles (training provided).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a cleaning role, particularly within a healthcare or similar environment.
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations and infection control procedures.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to understand cleaning schedules and product labels.
