Job Description

Are you looking to kickstart a rewarding career in the auto insurance industry? Admiral Group is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team in Darlington as a Trainee Vehicle Damage Estimator. No prior experience is required for this entry-level position; we are looking for candidates with a keen eye for detail, a strong willingness to learn, and excellent communication skills. You will undergo a comprehensive training program to develop the expertise needed to assess vehicle damage, prepare accurate repair estimates, and communicate effectively with policyholders and repair shops. This is an exciting opportunity to learn a specialized skill set within a supportive and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in a structured training program to learn about vehicle repair methods and damage assessment techniques.
  • Under the guidance of experienced estimators, begin to inspect damaged vehicles (both physically and from digital images).
  • Learn to identify damaged components and estimate repair costs using industry-standard software.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, policyholders, and approved repairers regarding estimates and repair processes.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with company guidelines, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all damage assessments.
  • Continuously develop knowledge of vehicle construction, repair technologies, and estimating software.
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures.

Required Skills

  • Strong eagerness and ability to learn complex information quickly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency in computer usage and standard office software.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Customer-focused approach with a helpful and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A valid UK driving license (desirable, as site visits may become part of the role after initial training).

Preferred Qualifications

  • A-Levels or equivalent vocational qualifications.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role.
  • Familiarity with automotive mechanics or body repair (even as a hobby) is a plus, but not essential.
