Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Stagehand Assistants to join our casual pool for various event setups and pack-downs at the Wagga Wagga Civic Theatre. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the live events industry. You will work closely with our production team to ensure the smooth and efficient execution of a wide range of performances, concerts, and functions. No prior experience is required as full training will be provided, but a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the loading and unloading of stage equipment, props, and set pieces.
- Support the technical team in setting up and dismantling staging, lighting, and sound equipment.
- Perform general backstage duties as directed by the Stage Manager or Technical Coordinator.
- Ensure all equipment is handled safely and stored correctly.
- Maintain a clean and organised backstage environment.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Assist with audience flow and venue preparation as needed.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects (within safe limits).
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to various tasks.
- Excellent team player with a positive attitude.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety (training provided).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a theatre or event environment (even volunteer work).
- First Aid certification.
- Forklift license or EWP (Elevated Work Platform) ticket (not essential, but a bonus).
- Basic knowledge of stagecraft, lighting, or sound equipment.
