Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Local Authority Billing Clerk to join our finance team. This full-time, on-site position is crucial for the accurate and timely processing of municipal billing, ensuring smooth financial operations and excellent public service. Key Responsibilities

  • Process and generate accurate billing statements for various municipal services (e.g., utilities, property taxes).
  • Respond professionally to customer inquiries regarding accounts, billing details, and payment options via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Reconcile accounts, identify discrepancies, and resolve billing issues efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain detailed and organized billing records and associated documentation.
  • Ensure all billing procedures comply with local authority policies, regulations, and financial guidelines.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including report generation and data verification.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless information flow related to billing.
  • Process payments and adjustments, ensuring all transactions are correctly recorded.

Required Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with colleagues and the public.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
  • Basic understanding of accounting or bookkeeping principles.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications
