Job Description

Are you passionate about sustainable food production and eager to kickstart your career in modern agriculture? Costa Group is offering a unique Hydroponics Intern opportunity in Burnie, Tasmania. This mentorship-focused role is designed for individuals with little to no prior experience, providing hands-on training and comprehensive exposure to cutting-edge hydroponic farming techniques. You will work alongside experienced agronomists and horticulturists, learning the intricacies of controlled environment agriculture from seed to harvest. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the daily monitoring of hydroponic systems, including nutrient solution levels, pH, and electrical conductivity.
  • Learn and apply best practices for plant propagation, transplanting, and general crop maintenance in a controlled environment.
  • Support the team in harvesting, packing, and quality control processes for hydroponically grown produce.
  • Maintain detailed records of plant growth, environmental conditions, and system performance.
  • Participate in the cleaning and sanitization of growing areas and equipment.
  • Shadow experienced staff to understand advanced agricultural techniques and problem-solving.
  • Contribute to research and development initiatives aimed at improving crop yield and efficiency.
