Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Seafood Prep / Fishmonger Assistant to join our fresh seafood department in Corner Brook. This full-time role involves early morning starts, ensuring our counters are stocked with the freshest seafood for our customers. You will play a vital role in preparing, displaying, and maintaining the quality of our seafood products. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to learn and grow within the retail food industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the cutting, trimming, and preparation of various fish and seafood products according to company standards and customer requests.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of seafood to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
- Clean and maintain the seafood display cases, prep areas, and equipment to the highest sanitation standards.
- Assist customers with their seafood selections, providing product information, cooking suggestions, and excellent service.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with receiving and stocking new shipments.
- Adhere to all food safety and health regulations.
- Work effectively as part of a team, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
Required Skills
- Ability to work early morning shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and hygiene.
- Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail, grocery, or food service environment is an asset, but not required.
- Basic knowledge of seafood varieties and preparation techniques is a plus.
