Job Description
Join PCL Constructors Inc., a leading force in the construction industry, as a skilled Sheet Metal Worker. We are seeking talented individuals from around the world to contribute to our dynamic team in Selkirk, Manitoba. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and equipment, primarily focusing on HVAC systems and architectural elements for various commercial and industrial projects. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout, sequence of operations, and types of materials required.
- Lay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on sheet metal according to drawings or templates.
- Operate shearing, bending, forming, crimping, and other metalworking machines to cut, bend, and shape sheet metal.
- Assemble and join sheet metal products using various techniques such as welding, bolting, riveting, and soldering.
- Install fabricated sheet metal parts, such as ducts, plenums, gutters, and other ventilation system components.
- Inspect product quality and installation to ensure conformity with specifications and building codes.
- Troubleshoot and repair existing sheet metal installations and systems.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate effectively with other tradespersons and project team members.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Worker or similar role.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools common to the sheet metal trade.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication and installation techniques.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes and safety regulations.
- Excellent spatial reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
- Physical dexterity and stamina to perform manual labor, lift heavy materials, and work in various conditions.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker certification or equivalent trade qualification from home country.
- Experience with various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, stick).
- Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software for layout or fabrication.
- Experience working on large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects.
- Valid driver's license.
