Job Description
Join the 84 Lumber team as a Timber Yard Hand in Elizabeth, New Jersey! This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in the lumber and building materials industry. We are seeking enthusiastic and hardworking individuals who are ready to learn. No prior experience is required as comprehensive training will be provided to ensure your success. As a Timber Yard Hand, you will be an integral part of our operations, handling various types of timber, assisting with inventory management, and ensuring the yard remains organized and safe. This role involves manual work in an outdoor environment, requiring physical stamina and a commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload timber and building materials from trucks and into storage racks.
- Organize and maintain the timber yard, ensuring materials are stored correctly and the area is clean and accessible.
- Accurately pick and prepare customer orders for delivery or pickup.
- Assist with inventory counts and report any discrepancies or damaged materials.
- Operate yard equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) under supervision, following all safety protocols (training provided).
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist customers with loading purchases and provide excellent service.
- Perform general maintenance and upkeep of the yard and equipment as needed.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
- Strong work ethic and a desire to learn.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a labor-intensive role or outdoor work environment is a plus, but not required.
