Job Description
Are you seeking an entry-level opportunity in healthcare where you can make a tangible difference? Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our Sleep Clinic as a Night Technician Trainee. This vital role involves monitoring patients undergoing sleep studies during their overnight stay. No prior experience in sleep technology or healthcare is required, as comprehensive training will be provided to equip you with all the necessary skills to excel in this specialized field. You will play a crucial role in collecting data that helps diagnose and treat various sleep disorders, contributing directly to improved patient health outcomes. This position requires a commitment to night shifts and a compassionate approach to patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up patients for overnight sleep studies, including attaching electrodes and sensors according to protocol.
- Monitor patients continuously throughout the night, observing physiological data, sleep stages, and any unusual events.
- Document observations, technical notes, and any patient-reported symptoms accurately and promptly.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during their stay in the sleep lab.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and make minor adjustments as needed under supervision.
- Respond to patient needs and emergency situations calmly and effectively.
- Assist with the collection and preliminary analysis of sleep study data.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sleep lab environment.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and patient confidentiality guidelines.
