Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join our committed team in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to make a significant impact on the lives of students with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will be instrumental in creating an engaging and supportive learning environment, developing tailored educational plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with SEN.
- Develop, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with students, parents, and other professionals.
- Assess student progress, monitor attainment, and provide regular feedback to students and parents.
- Manage classroom resources effectively and create an inclusive, stimulating learning environment.
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, mainstream teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure holistic support for students.
- Participate in regular professional development and training opportunities related to SEN education.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, interventions, and communications.
- Contribute to the wider school community and uphold the values of Ascend Education Trust.
Required Skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
- Demonstrable experience working as an SEN Teacher or with children with a range of special educational needs.
- Thorough knowledge of the UK SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation (or ability to quickly adapt).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction effectively to meet diverse learning styles.
- Strong behavior management strategies and a patient, empathetic approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- A postgraduate qualification in Special Educational Needs (e.g., NASENCo, PGCE SEN).
- Experience with specific SEN interventions or approaches (e.g., PECS, Makaton, TEACCH, ELKLAN).
- Experience working with students across different key stages (primary and secondary).
- Familiarity with various assessment tools for identifying and monitoring SEN.
