Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech and Language Pathologist to join our dynamic team in Spokane, WA. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals who are passionate about helping patients regain and improve their communication and swallowing abilities. We welcome international applicants and are prepared to offer support for relocation and visa sponsorship. In this role, you will provide comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services to a diverse patient population within an inpatient or outpatient setting. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, ensuring the highest quality of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of speech, language, voice, fluency, cognition, and swallowing disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized evidence-based treatment plans tailored to patient needs and goals.
- Provide direct therapeutic intervention to patients across various age groups and diagnoses.
- Document patient evaluations, treatment progress, and discharge summaries accurately and timely in electronic health records.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients and their families on communication strategies, swallowing precautions, and home exercise programs.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain professional competence through ongoing education and professional development activities.
Required Skills
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA, or eligibility for certification.
- Eligibility for or active Speech-Language Pathologist license in the State of Washington.
- Demonstrated knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic techniques for various communication and swallowing disorders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (2+ years) working in an acute care, rehabilitation, or outpatient clinic setting.
- Experience with specialized patient populations (e.g., stroke, traumatic brain injury, pediatrics, geriatrics).
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Russian, or other languages prevalent in the community).
- Familiarity with dysphagia management techniques, including instrumental assessments (e.g., FEES, VFSS).
