Job Description
We are seeking skilled and dedicated Millwrights / Industrial Mechanics to join our dynamic maintenance team at Celsa Steel UK in Cardiff. This vital role involves the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy industrial machinery and equipment within our steel manufacturing plant. As an Industrial Mechanic, you will be crucial in ensuring the operational efficiency and reliability of our production lines, contributing directly to our success. Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on various industrial machinery and mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical failures and diagnose issues using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
- Execute repairs, adjustments, and overhauls of complex machinery, ensuring alignment, balance, and proper functionality.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics to assist with installations, modifications, and repairs.
- Operate various hand and power tools, hoists, and other lifting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Participate in the installation, dismantling, and relocation of heavy industrial equipment.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout protocols, to ensure a safe working environment.
- Work collaboratively with other maintenance personnel, operators, and engineers to optimize plant performance.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment conditions.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Millwright or Industrial Mechanic in a heavy industrial setting (e.g., steel, mining, manufacturing).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Experience with precision alignment techniques.
- Knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques relevant to industrial machinery.
- Understanding of industrial safety standards and practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- Good communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade qualification or apprenticeship completion.
- Experience with heavy lifting and rigging operations.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Experience working in a steel manufacturing environment.
- Additional certifications in welding (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick).
