Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Midwife to join our dedicated maternity team in Croydon. This pivotal role involves providing high-quality, evidence-based care to women and their families throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods. You will work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, ensuring a positive and safe experience for all service users. Key Responsibilities
- Provide holistic midwifery care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for women and newborns.
- Manage a caseload of women, offering continuity of care where possible.
- Conduct antenatal clinics, parent education, and postnatal visits.
- Facilitate normal physiological birth and provide support in complex deliveries.
- Administer medications and perform clinical procedures as per protocol.
- Educate and empower women to make informed choices about their care.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records.
- Act as a mentor and preceptor for student midwives and junior staff.
- Participate in clinical audits, research, and service development initiatives.
- Adhere to all Trust policies, guidelines, and professional standards of practice.
Required Skills
- Registered Midwife (NMC pin)
- BSc (Hons) Midwifery or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 12 months post-registration experience as a practicing Midwife
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Sound clinical decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice
- Proficiency in IT systems relevant to healthcare
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a variety of maternity settings (e.g., community, birth centre, acute hospital)
- NIPE qualification (Newborn and Infant Physical Examination)
- Cannulation and intravenous drug administration competency
- Mentorship qualification or experience in supervising students
