Job Description
Are you ready to be the hidden hero of our Schuh store in Peterborough? We’re looking for an energetic and organised individual to join our team as a Stock Runner. This fast-paced, behind-the-scenes role is crucial to our daily operations, ensuring our sales floor is always stocked with the latest footwear. You’ll be responsible for managing inventory, preparing stock for display, and keeping our stockroom pristine. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone who thrives in a physical role and enjoys contributing to a lively retail environment without direct customer interaction. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently receive, unload, and process incoming stock deliveries.
- Organise and maintain a tidy and accessible stockroom, ensuring items are correctly labelled and stored.
- Replenish sales floor inventory quickly and accurately as requested by sales assistants.
- Assist with stock counts, transfers, and inventory checks.
- Ensure all health and safety guidelines are followed in the stockroom.
- Support the sales team by providing rapid access to required footwear sizes and styles.
- Help prepare store for opening and closing, including tidying stock areas.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic numeracy skills for stock checking and inventory management.
- No prior experience required – full training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail or warehouse environment (beneficial but not essential).
- Familiarity with stock management systems (training provided).
- A passion for footwear and fashion.
