Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Software Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team in Baltimore, MD. This critical role involves overseeing the design, development, and deployment of complex software systems for advanced defense and aerospace platforms. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in software engineering, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of managing successful project lifecycles from conception to delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to best practices, quality standards, and project timelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, hardware engineering, and program management, to define requirements and deliver integrated solutions.
- Manage project budgets, resources, and schedules to ensure efficient and timely delivery of software products.
- Drive technical strategy and architectural decisions for new and existing software systems.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support the professional development of team members.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, company policies, and security protocols.
- Communicate technical concepts and project status effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Java, or Python.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum).
- Experience with embedded systems, real-time operating systems, or mission-critical software.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop engineering teams.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant technical discipline.
- Experience in the aerospace, defense, or government contracting industry.
- Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulations (e.g., DO-178C, MISRA C/C++).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- PMP or other relevant project management certifications.
- Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
