Job Description

Join Desert City Bikes as a City Bike Share Fleet Mechanic, specializing in outdoor maintenance. This role is crucial for ensuring our fleet of bikes is in optimal working condition and readily available for our users throughout Tucson. You will be responsible for performing routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance on bikes at various stations across the city, often working independently outdoors in varying weather conditions. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine diagnostic checks and maintenance on bike share bicycles in the field.
  • Conduct on-site repairs including tire changes, brake adjustments, chain replacements, and gear tuning.
  • Inspect bikes for safety compliance and general wear and tear.
  • Utilize mobile tools and equipment to carry out repairs efficiently at bike stations.
  • Manage and track repair logs and inventory of parts using a mobile application.
  • Relocate bikes as needed to balance station inventory and demand.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company operational procedures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service when interacting with the public.
  • Report significant issues or damage to supervisors promptly.

Required Skills

  • Basic mechanical aptitude or experience with bicycles.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver bicycles (up to 50 lbs).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 months of experience in bicycle repair or general mechanical maintenance.
  • Familiarity with bike share systems or fleet management.
  • Basic knowledge of mobile repair applications or inventory management software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
