Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and safety-conscious Heavy Rigging Supervisor to join our dynamic team. This critical role involves overseeing all heavy lifting and rigging operations on various complex industrial and construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient execution of rigging plans, managing rigging crews, and maintaining compliance with all safety regulations and project specifications. This position requires exceptional leadership, technical expertise in rigging, and the ability to thrive in challenging environments. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement detailed rigging plans, procedures, and lift studies for heavy lifts, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and safety standards.
- Supervise, lead, and mentor rigging crews, providing clear direction and fostering a culture of safety and productivity.
- Inspect all rigging equipment, including cranes, hoists, slings, and shackles, to ensure proper functioning and adherence to safety requirements.
- Conduct pre-lift meetings and risk assessments, identifying potential hazards and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other site personnel to ensure seamless integration of rigging operations into overall project schedules.
- Monitor progress of rigging activities, making adjustments as necessary to maintain project timelines and budget.
- Ensure strict adherence to all company, local, state, and federal safety regulations and environmental policies.
- Provide hands-on support and expertise during critical lifting operations.
- Maintain accurate records of rigging operations, equipment inspections, and training.
- Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions as required.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy rigging supervision, preferably in industrial construction or large-scale projects.
- Proven expertise in developing and executing complex rigging plans and lift studies.
- In-depth knowledge of various rigging techniques, equipment, and associated safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ASME).
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate crews.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and load charts.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent.
- Rigging certification (e.g., NCCCO Rigger Level II or higher, or equivalent international certification).
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience with international project execution and diverse workforces.
- Additional safety certifications (e.g., First Aid/CPR).
- Familiarity with project management software.
- Experience with specialized rigging equipment such as gantry systems or strand jacks.
