Job Description

As a Platform Engineer at Dell Technologies in Swansea, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining the core infrastructure and tooling that power our critical applications and services. You will work within a dynamic team to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our platforms, automating processes and implementing best practices for continuous delivery and operational excellence. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to significant projects, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to solve complex engineering challenges and directly impact our product delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain automation tools and scripts for platform provisioning, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate applications into the platform and ensure operational readiness.
  • Monitor platform health, performance, and security, responding to incidents and troubleshooting issues.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code practices.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and corporate policies, implementing robust security measures.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance platform capabilities and efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Scripting skills in languages like Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
  • Experience with Linux operating systems and command-line tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in relevant cloud platforms or technologies.
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Familiarity with networking concepts and security best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
