Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our team as Hospital Cleaners at Colchester Hospital. This vital role ensures a safe, clean, and hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Full training will be provided, so no prior experience is necessary, just a commitment to maintaining high standards and a strong work ethic. You will be responsible for daily cleaning tasks, adhering to strict infection control policies, and contributing to the overall wellbeing of our hospital community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks across various hospital areas, including patient wards, offices, communal spaces, and clinical areas, strictly adhering to infection control policies.
  • Empty and clean waste bins, ensuring proper segregation and disposal of general and clinical waste.
  • Clean and sanitise surfaces, floors, fixtures, and fittings using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment.
  • Replenish essential supplies such as soap, paper towels, and hand sanitiser.
  • Operate cleaning machinery safely and efficiently, including vacuum cleaners and floor buffers.
  • Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or equipment malfunctions to the relevant department.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) guidelines.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
