Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled English / ESL Teacher to join our passionate team in Bournemouth. This role involves delivering high-quality, engaging English language lessons to adult students from diverse international backgrounds. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a supportive learning environment, utilizing modern teaching methodologies, and contributing to our students’ success. We are pleased to offer Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for eligible international candidates who require visa sponsorship to work in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective English language lessons to students of various proficiency levels.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with Kaplan's curriculum and pedagogical standards.
- Assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and support to facilitate learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and achievements.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and communicative classroom environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development workshops, and school events.
- Provide academic guidance and support to students as needed.
- Adhere to school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and student welfare.
Required Skills
- Native or near-native proficiency in English.
- A recognised ESL teaching qualification (e.g., CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, or equivalent).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability in classroom management and adapting teaching styles to diverse student needs.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with students from varied backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Linguistics, Education, or a related field.
- A higher-level qualification such as DELTA, Trinity DipTESOL, or MA in TESOL.
- At least 1 year of full-time experience teaching ESL to adults.
- Experience with online teaching platforms and blended learning approaches.
- Familiarity with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
