Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our dynamic finance team in Derby. This role is crucial in supporting strategic decision-making through rigorous financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting. You will be instrumental in tracking financial performance, identifying trends, and providing insights that drive business growth and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of financial principles, and a commitment to accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and profitability studies.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support business initiatives and strategic projects.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for management, highlighting key performance indicators and actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather financial data and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  • Participate in ad-hoc financial projects and initiatives as required.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a financial analyst role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data visualization).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CFA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification (part-qualified or actively pursuing).
  • Experience with financial planning software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion).
  • Knowledge of banking or financial services industry regulations and practices.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
