Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Elevator / Escalator Mechanic to join our dynamic team in Birkenhead, Wirral. As an Elevator / Escalator Mechanic, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and modernization of our wide range of lifting equipment. Your expertise will ensure the safe and efficient operation of elevators and escalators across various commercial and residential properties in the Wirral area. This role requires a strong technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and servicing on elevators and escalators according to schedule and KONE standards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical faults in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Execute repairs, adjustments, and replacements of components to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Respond to breakdown calls promptly and efficiently, minimizing downtime for customers.
- Conduct safety inspections and tests, ensuring all equipment complies with relevant regulations and company policies.
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including service reports, time sheets, and expense claims.
- Provide excellent customer service, communicating effectively with clients regarding work progress and potential issues.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay updated with industry advancements and KONE products.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Elevator / Escalator Mechanic or in a closely related electromechanical field.
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics, mechanical diagrams, and control systems.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex technical issues in lift and escalator equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all health and safety regulations.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Lift & Escalator Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Experience with KONE equipment or other major manufacturer systems.
- CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- Familiarity with relevant British Standards and EN codes (e.g., BS EN 81, BS EN 115).
- Prior experience in a customer-facing field service role.
