Job Description
Global Compassion Alliance Canada is seeking a motivated and passionate Global Health & Sanitation Intern to join our dynamic Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Programs team. This entry-level internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the non-profit sector, specifically within global health and development. You will contribute to the research, planning, and support of our international WASH initiatives, working alongside experienced professionals dedicated to improving public health outcomes in developing regions. This role is ideal for individuals eager to learn about international development, public health challenges, and practical solutions in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting research on best practices and emerging trends in global WASH programs.
- Support the development of educational materials and communication strategies for WASH initiatives.
- Help organize and prepare documentation for program proposals, reports, and presentations.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions for program planning.
- Assist with data collection, entry, and basic analysis related to program monitoring and evaluation.
- Support logistical and administrative tasks for WASH program activities and events.
- Learn about funding opportunities and grant application processes for international development projects.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment of WASH objectives with broader organizational goals.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant post-secondary program (e.g., Public Health, Environmental Studies, International Development, Social Sciences).
- Strong interest in global health, sanitation, and humanitarian issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
- A proactive and enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with international development frameworks or non-profit operations.
- Knowledge of an additional language, particularly French.
- Previous volunteer experience in community development or related fields.
