Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic (Diesel) to join our growing team in Lincoln, NE. Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic tests on heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, electrical, and hydraulic systems to identify malfunctions.
- Execute repairs and replacements of faulty components, including engines, brakes, steering systems, and fuel systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance and preventative services to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic software and specialized tools to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electronic issues.
- Complete detailed service reports and documentation of all repairs and maintenance performed.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding repair status and technical information.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry advancements and technology.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic or similar role (minimum 3 years)
- In-depth knowledge of diesel engine systems, including Cummins, Detroit Diesel, PACCAR, and others
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools specific to heavy-duty trucks
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins
- Possession of own tools appropriate for heavy-duty truck maintenance
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and perform strenuous tasks as required by the job
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade school diploma or equivalent apprenticeship completion in Heavy Equipment or Diesel Technology
- ASE certifications (e.g., T2 – Diesel Engines, T4 – Brakes, T8 – Preventative Maintenance and Inspection)
- Experience with specific truck brands such as International, Kenworth, Peterbilt, or Freightliner
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B
- Previous experience working in an authorized dealer service center
