Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Cook to join our friendly kitchen team at Oakwood Community Primary School in Cheltenham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about preparing wholesome food and contributing to a positive school environment. You will be responsible for preparing a variety of dishes, ensuring high standards of food hygiene and safety, and catering to diverse dietary needs. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a wide range of nutritious and appealing meals for students and staff, following established menus and recipes.
- Ensure all food preparation and cooking adheres strictly to health, safety, and hygiene regulations (HACCP, allergens).
- Manage kitchen stock, including ordering, receiving, and rotating supplies to minimize waste.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment, including cleaning equipment and work areas.
- Assist with menu planning, considering dietary requirements, cultural preferences, and budget constraints.
- Supervise and guide kitchen assistants and junior staff during service.
- Ensure timely service of meals, maintaining quality and presentation.
- Record daily food temperatures and other relevant data as required by food safety standards.
- Liaise effectively with school staff, suppliers, and external contractors.
