Job Description

Join Florida East Coast Railway as a Railroad Track Maintenance Worker! This demanding yet highly rewarding role requires significant travel throughout our service area to ensure the safety and integrity of our rail infrastructure. We are seeking dedicated individuals with a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and a willingness to learn. You will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining railroad tracks, switches, and other track components. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspection of railroad tracks, switches, bridges, and other track structures for defects and wear.
  • Repair or replace defective rails, ties, switches, frogs, and other track materials.
  • Operate heavy machinery and power tools required for track maintenance and repair, including rail saws, tie removers, and tampers.
  • Clear brush, vegetation, and debris from railroad rights-of-way.
  • Respond to emergency calls for track repairs, derailments, or other incidents, often requiring work outside of regular hours.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, procedures, and company policies.
  • Work effectively as part of a team under varying weather conditions and demanding physical environments.
  • Complete necessary documentation and reports related to track conditions and repairs.

Required Skills

  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively within Florida, often on short notice.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools.
  • Exceptional commitment to safety protocols and practices.
  • Physical strength and stamina to perform demanding manual labor for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Basic problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in railroad maintenance, construction, or heavy equipment operation.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B.
  • Welding or metal fabrication experience.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
