Job Description

Are you passionate about bikes and eager to learn a specialist craft? Avon Valley Cyclery is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Bicycle Wheel Lacing Helper to join our expert team. This is a unique entry-level opportunity for individuals with no prior experience in bike mechanics. We believe in nurturing talent and will provide comprehensive on-the-job training to help you master the intricate art of bicycle wheel building. You’ll work closely with our experienced mechanics, learning everything from spoke lacing and tensioning to truing and final inspection. If you’re detail-oriented, have excellent manual dexterity, and are looking for a hands-on career in a supportive environment, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced wheel builders with various tasks during the wheel lacing and building process.
  • Learn and practice the techniques of spoke lacing, nipple fitting, and basic wheel truing under supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment, including component storage and tool maintenance.
  • Help with inventory management for spokes, rims, hubs, and other wheel-building components.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and workshop procedures.
  • Show eagerness to learn and develop a deep understanding of bicycle wheel dynamics and construction.
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive team atmosphere.
