Job Description

Intact Financial Corporation is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as an Insurance Claims Adjuster (Trainee). This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone eager to learn the fundamentals of claims adjusting in a supportive, desk-based environment. We provide a comprehensive training program designed to equip you with all the knowledge and skills needed to succeed, regardless of your prior experience. You will play a crucial role in helping our clients navigate their claims with empathy and efficiency, all while working from our modern office in Owen Sound.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in a structured training program to learn claims adjusting principles, procedures, and relevant insurance policies.
- Assist senior adjusters with administrative tasks, data entry, and documentation related to claims.
- Learn to communicate professionally with policyholders, brokers, and other stakeholders regarding claim status and processes.
- Under supervision, begin to review policy coverage and determine liability for assigned claims.
- Develop skills in investigating claims, gathering necessary information, and assessing damages.
- Maintain accurate and thorough claim files and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a seamless claims experience for our clients.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new information and systems.
- Customer-centric mindset with a desire to help others.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- No prior insurance experience required; full training provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in any field (e.g., Business, Arts, Social Sciences).
- Previous experience in a customer service or administrative role.
