Job Description
LifeLabs is seeking a dedicated and reliable Medical Sample Courier to join our team in Castlegar, BC. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the safe, secure, and timely transport of medical samples between our collection centres, clinics, and laboratory facilities. A company vehicle will be provided for all job-related travel. This position requires a strong commitment to punctuality, adherence to safety protocols, and a clean driving record. You will play a crucial part in the diagnostic process, ensuring samples reach their destination efficiently and intact, directly contributing to patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport medical samples, specimens, and other laboratory materials according to established routes and schedules.
- Operate and maintain a company-provided vehicle, ensuring it is clean, fueled, and in good working order.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and provincial regulations related to medical transport.
- Maintain accurate logs of all pickups, deliveries, and vehicle mileage.
- Handle all medical samples with utmost care, maintaining proper temperature and integrity during transit.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, laboratory staff, and collection site personnel regarding pickups and deliveries.
- Report any vehicle maintenance issues, delays, or incidents promptly to supervision.
- Ensure proper documentation and chain of custody for all transported items.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's License.
- Proven clean driving record with no major infractions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs (11 kg) occasionally.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Basic knowledge of the Castlegar and surrounding regional road network.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a courier or delivery role, particularly in a medical or logistics setting.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and handling sensitive biological samples.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong customer service skills.
