Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Nuclear Engineer to join our dynamic team in Cambridge. This role involves contributing to groundbreaking projects within the nuclear energy sector, focusing on design, analysis, and safety assessments for various nuclear facilities. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of nuclear power plants and related infrastructure, working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver world-class engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed engineering analyses, including thermal-hydraulics, neutronics, and structural mechanics, for nuclear systems and components.
- Develop and review technical specifications, design documents, and safety reports in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide solutions for complex engineering challenges related to nuclear operations and waste management.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and regulatory bodies to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget.
- Contribute to the development of innovative solutions and improvements in nuclear plant design, performance, and safety.
- Participate in site visits, inspections, and commissioning activities as required.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in nuclear safety analysis, design, or operations.
- Strong understanding of nuclear physics, thermal-hydraulics, and materials science.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software and analytical tools.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards it.
- Experience with UK nuclear regulatory frameworks (e.g., ONR).
- Familiarity with advanced reactor concepts or fusion energy research.
