Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart a rewarding career in the fast-growing tech trade of smart energy solutions? E.ON UK offers an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic individuals to join us as a Smart Grid Installation Assistant. This entry-level, full-time position provides comprehensive paid training from day one, equipping you with all the skills and knowledge needed to excel, even without prior experience. You will work on-site, assisting experienced technicians in the installation and maintenance of cutting-edge smart meter and smart grid technologies, contributing directly to a greener, more efficient energy network.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in and complete all provided paid training programs related to smart meter technology, safety protocols, and installation procedures.
- Assist qualified technicians with the installation, exchange, and maintenance of smart meters and other smart grid devices at various customer premises.
- Strictly adhere to all health, safety, and environmental guidelines and company policies.
- Ensure high standards of work quality and provide excellent customer service during all interactions.
- Effectively communicate with customers, explaining the functionality and benefits of newly installed smart technology.
- Accurately complete all necessary paperwork and digital records for each job.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working order.
- Travel to various customer locations within Sunderland and the surrounding areas as required.
Required Skills
- No prior experience in smart grid technology or installations is required; full paid training will be provided.
- A strong desire and aptitude for learning new technical skills in the energy sector.
- Excellent work ethic and a steadfast commitment to safety.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with colleagues and customers.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- A positive, proactive attitude and a willingness to solve problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- A valid, clean UK driving license is highly desirable, as the role involves significant travel to customer sites.
- Basic understanding or a keen interest in technology, electronics, or renewable energy.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
