Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented APS5 Compliance Officer to join our team in Maroochydore. In this critical role, you will contribute to the ACCC’s mission by undertaking a range of compliance activities, investigations, and stakeholder engagement to ensure adherence to relevant legislation. You will be responsible for applying legislative frameworks, conducting analysis, and preparing clear and concise reports. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessments, investigations, and reviews of potential breaches of competition and consumer law.
  • Gather and analyse evidence, intelligence, and data to support compliance activities and decision-making.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, briefs, and recommendations on compliance matters.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including businesses, consumers, and legal representatives.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of compliance strategies and educational initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and case management documentation.
  • Contribute to team projects and initiatives, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Provide advice and guidance on compliance requirements to a variety of audiences.
  • Participate in relevant training and professional development activities.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in a compliance, regulatory, or investigative role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to interpret complex information and legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proficiency in using standard office software and case management systems.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in Law, Commerce, Economics, Public Policy, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within a government agency or similar regulatory body.
  • Knowledge of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and related legislation.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and negotiation.
