Job Description
As an Aircraft Inspector at Parker Meggitt’s Reading facility, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our impeccable safety and quality standards. You will be responsible for conducting meticulous inspections of aircraft components, systems, and assemblies at various stages of production and maintenance, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal specifications. This is a vital position for someone with a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of aerospace quality processes, and a commitment to aerospace integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections of aircraft parts, assemblies, and complete systems.
- Verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, quality standards, and airworthiness directives (ADs) and service bulletins (SBs).
- Document inspection findings accurately and thoroughly, including non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to resolve quality issues and implement preventive measures.
- Interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and regulatory requirements (e.g., EASA, CAA, FAA).
- Conduct first article inspections (FAI) and in-process inspections.
- Ensure all inspection equipment is calibrated and maintained according to standards.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Aircraft Inspector or in a similar quality assurance role within the aerospace industry (minimum 3 years).
- Proficiency in interpreting complex engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Strong knowledge of aerospace quality standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100, EASA Part 145/21G, FAA).
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges).
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Right to work in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., EASA Part 66, A&P License, or equivalent).
- Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- A relevant engineering or aerospace qualification (e.g., HNC/HND, Degree).
