Job Description

Are you passionate about making a difference in people’s lives and providing support to those in crisis? Samaritans is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as a Mental Health Crisis Hotline Intern. This is a unique opportunity to gain invaluable experience in mental health support and crisis intervention, all from the comfort of your own home, as this position is 100% remote. This internship is designed for individuals with no prior experience in crisis intervention; comprehensive training will be provided to equip you with all the necessary skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answering incoming calls from individuals seeking emotional support and crisis intervention.
  • Actively listening with empathy and compassion to understand callers' feelings and concerns.
  • Providing a safe and confidential space for callers to express themselves without judgment.
  • Following established protocols and guidelines for crisis intervention and documentation.
  • Offering information on additional resources where appropriate.
  • Participating in regular debriefing sessions and ongoing training to enhance skills.
