Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Community Transport Driver to join our team in Newcastle. In this vital role, you will provide safe and comfortable transport for local seniors, enabling them to attend appointments, social activities, and access essential services. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a community transport vehicle to transport senior clients to various destinations.
- Assist passengers with boarding and alighting the vehicle, including those with mobility aids.
- Maintain accurate records of journeys, mileage, and passenger details.
- Ensure the cleanliness and basic maintenance checks of the vehicle.
- Provide friendly, respectful, and person-centred service to all passengers.
- Adhere to all road safety regulations and Uniting's transport policies and procedures.
- Report any vehicle maintenance needs or incidents promptly.
Required Skills
- Valid Australian Driver's Licence (minimum Class C or equivalent).
- Clean driving record.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to assist seniors.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service or community-facing role.
- Knowledge of the Newcastle local area.
- Experience driving a small bus or multi-passenger vehicle.
- Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
