Job Description
Are you looking for an opportunity to kickstart your career in a hands-on role that makes a real difference to the environment? Cleanaway is seeking enthusiastic and physically fit individuals to join our team as Green Waste Sorters in Canberra. This is an entry-level position where no prior experience is required – we provide full training to all successful candidates. You will be an integral part of our operations, working outdoors to sort and process green waste, ensuring it is prepared for composting and other sustainable outcomes. This role involves manual labour, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions. Key Responsibilities
- Manually sort green waste materials on a conveyor belt or designated area.
- Identify and remove non-green waste contaminants (e.g., plastics, metals, general refuse).
- Operate basic hand tools and equipment as required (with training).
- Maintain a clean and organised work area to ensure a safe and efficient operation.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors.
- Work effectively as part of a team to meet daily sorting targets.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform manual labour and lift up to 20kg repeatedly.
- Physical fitness and stamina to stand for long periods and work outdoors.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of waste sorting or recycling principles (not essential, training provided).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the work site.
