Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Commercial Landscaping Crew Leader to join our team in Kelowna. This is an immediate start, full-time position for an individual who thrives in an outdoor work environment and possesses a strong passion for landscaping. As a Crew Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations on commercial sites, leading a small team, operating specialized equipment, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and supervise a landscaping crew of 2-4 members on commercial properties.
- Perform and oversee all aspects of commercial landscape maintenance, including mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, weeding, mulching, and debris removal.
- Operate and maintain various landscaping equipment such as commercial mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and small tractors.
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and company policies on job sites.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding project progress, issues, and client needs.
- Train and mentor junior crew members on best practices and equipment operation.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while interacting with clients and the public.
- Manage on-site inventory of tools and materials.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in commercial landscaping or grounds maintenance.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and experience supervising a team.
- Proficiency in operating a wide range of commercial landscaping equipment.
- Strong knowledge of plant health, turf management, and general landscaping techniques.
- Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Horticulture diploma or related certification.
- Experience with irrigation system maintenance and repair.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Pesticide application certification.
