Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Commercial Landscaping Crew Leader to join our dynamic team in Port Talbot. This is an immediate start position for individuals passionate about outdoor work and leading a team to deliver high-quality landscaping services. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations on various commercial sites, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards. This role requires hands-on involvement, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining beautiful and functional outdoor environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a small team of landscaping operatives on commercial sites.
  • Perform various landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, pruning, planting, weeding, and litter picking.
  • Operate and maintain a range of landscaping equipment and machinery safely and effectively.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor project progress, manage timelines, and report any issues to the project manager.
  • Train and mentor team members, promoting best practices and skill development.
  • Communicate effectively with clients on-site, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including daily reports, timesheets, and safety checklists.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail on all projects.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial landscaping or grounds maintenance.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience, preferably as a crew leader or supervisor.
  • Proficiency in operating various landscaping equipment (e.g., mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers).
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices in an outdoor work environment.
  • Ability to work effectively outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Full UK driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture or a related field.
  • PA1/PA6 spraying qualifications.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Trailer towing endorsement (B+E).
