Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically fit Turf Layer Labourer to join our growing team for weekend work. This is a hands-on role requiring significant physical effort, primarily focusing on the preparation and laying of turf for various landscaping projects. You will be an integral part of our crew, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and to our high standards. While weekend work is a primary focus, additional hours may be available during the week based on project demand. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, isn’t afraid of hard physical labour, and takes pride in seeing a job through from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sites for turf installation, including soil leveling, grading, and debris removal.
- Unload, transport, and lay turf rolls or slabs meticulously according to project specifications.
- Operate basic landscaping equipment and hand tools safely and effectively.
- Assist with other general labouring tasks as required on site, such as irrigation setup or garden bed preparation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure project deadlines are met.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous tasks for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
- Basic understanding of site safety procedures.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to various tasks.
- Access to reliable transport to reach job sites in and around Launceston.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in landscaping, construction, or general labouring (6 months preferred).
- Current Australian C-class driver's license.
- Current White Card (Construction Induction Card).
- Experience operating small machinery (e.g., plate compactors, lawn mowers).
