Job Description
Are you passionate about 2D animation and eager to learn the foundational principles of traditional character movement, storytelling, and visual development? Brew City Animation Studios is offering an exciting 2D Traditional Animation Intern position for enthusiastic individuals with little to no prior professional experience. This internship is designed to provide hands-on training and mentorship from experienced animators. You will work closely with our creative team, gaining invaluable insights into the animation production pipeline, from concept to final frame. This is a fantastic opportunity to kickstart your career in animation and develop a strong portfolio under professional guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior animators with in-betweening and clean-up tasks.
- Learn and apply fundamental animation principles such as squash and stretch, timing, and spacing.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas for character actions and scene compositions.
- Organize and manage animation assets and files under supervision.
- Attend workshops and training sessions focused on traditional 2D animation techniques and software.
- Collaborate with the art team to ensure consistency in style and character design.
- Complete assigned learning modules and practical exercises to enhance animation skills.
Required Skills
- Strong foundational drawing skills and an understanding of human and animal anatomy.
- A deep passion for 2D animation and visual storytelling.
- Eagerness to learn new techniques and adapt to feedback.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Basic understanding of design principles and composition.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an animation, fine arts, or related program.
- A portfolio demonstrating drawing skills, life studies, and any personal animation projects (even rudimentary ones).
- Familiarity with digital drawing tablets and software like Adobe Animate, TVPaint, or Toon Boom Harmony is a plus, but not required.
