Job Description

NAV CANADA is seeking dedicated and highly motivated individuals to join our team as Air Traffic Controllers at our Calgary facility in Alberta. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the safe and efficient flow of air traffic within assigned airspace.
  • Provide clear, concise instructions and information to pilots using radio communications.
  • Monitor aircraft movements on radar and visual systems, ensuring safe separation.
  • Issue clearances, traffic advisories, and other pertinent operational information.
  • Respond to emergencies and coordinate seamlessly with other air traffic control units and emergency services.
  • Maintain accurate records of air traffic activities and all operational events.
  • Adhere strictly to established operational procedures and rigorous safety regulations.
  • Continuously assess and adapt swiftly to changing weather conditions and dynamic operational demands.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, essential for clear instructions.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and rapid decision-making abilities, especially under pressure.
  • Strong spatial reasoning and the capacity for high-level multi-tasking.
  • A high degree of concentration and meticulous attention to detail.
  • The ability to remain calm, composed, and focused in inherently high-stress situations.
  • A profound commitment to continuous learning and ongoing professional development.
  • A valid driver's license (or the ability to successfully obtain one).
  • The capability to successfully pass a comprehensive medical examination and rigorous security clearance process.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of post-secondary education (a diploma or degree in any discipline).
  • Prior experience in roles demanding high levels of responsibility, critical thinking, or complex multi-tasking.
  • A background in aviation, military service, or emergency services is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in French is also considered a valuable asset.
