Key Responsibilities
- Perform security screening of passengers and their carry-on baggage using various screening technologies and manual search procedures.
- Conduct security screening of checked baggage, ensuring compliance with all TSA regulations.
- Identify prohibited items and suspicious activities, taking appropriate action as per established protocols.
- Operate and monitor advanced imaging technology, X-ray machines, and other screening equipment.
- Provide clear and concise instructions and information to passengers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Maintain a high level of situational awareness to identify and respond to potential security threats.
- Adhere strictly to all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and directives.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other airport personnel to ensure efficient security operations.
- Complete ongoing training and certifications as required by the TSA.
- Stand, walk, bend, and lift objects for extended periods during shifts.
Required Skills
- US Citizenship
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to pass a federal background investigation and drug screening
- Excellent observational and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Capability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks
- Attention to detail and a commitment to security protocols
- Availability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in customer service or a public-facing role
- Fluency in multiple languages (especially Spanish given the location)
- Experience in a security-related field
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree
