Job Description
Join our purr-fect team at Paws & Whiskers Café! We are seeking a passionate and friendly Cat Café Host / Barista to create a welcoming and memorable experience for our guests and ensure the well-being of our resident cats. This unique role combines customer service, coffee preparation, and animal care, offering a truly rewarding environment for those who love both people and pets. You’ll be the face of our café, helping guests navigate our feline lounge, serving delicious beverages, and maintaining a clean and happy space for all.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome guests warmly, explaining café concept and cat lounge rules.
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee, tea, and other beverages to quality standards.
- Handle cash and credit transactions accurately using a POS system.
- Monitor the cat lounge, ensuring a safe, clean, and positive environment for cats and guests.
- Educate guests on cat behavior and adoption processes.
- Assist with light cat care duties, including feeding, litter box maintenance, and playtime (as needed).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, kitchen, and cat lounge areas.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Respond to guest inquiries and resolve any issues with a friendly and professional demeanor.
Required Skills
- Genuine love and respect for cats and animals.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a relaxed and positive attitude.
- Basic math skills for cash handling.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Willingness to learn barista skills (if not already possessed).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a café, hospitality, or customer service role.
- Barista experience.
- Knowledge of cat behavior and welfare.
- Experience with POS systems.
