Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial operations and strategy of J.D. Irving, Limited. This is a critical executive leadership role responsible for all aspects of financial management, including financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury, investor relations, and risk management. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader with a proven track record in large, complex organizations, capable of driving financial performance and supporting strategic growth initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute financial strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Oversee all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities.
  • Manage cash flow, treasury functions, and capital allocation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards (IFRS/ASPE).
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing finance team across various business units.
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Manage risk exposure through effective internal controls and insurance programs.
  • Evaluate potential mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures from a financial perspective.
  • Engage with external auditors, financial institutions, and legal counsel.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in senior financial leadership roles, preferably within a large, diversified corporation.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or equivalent international designation.
  • Proven experience in strategic financial planning, risk management, and capital management.
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, valuation, and M&A activities.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Superior communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with executive leadership and board members.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian financial regulations and reporting standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or other relevant advanced degree.
  • Experience in diverse industries such as manufacturing, forestry, transportation, or retail.
  • Previous experience with international operations and cross-border financial complexities.
  • Familiarity with advanced ERP systems and financial technology solutions.
