Job Description
We are seeking an visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead our global technology strategy and execution. This pivotal role requires a leader who can drive innovation, scale our technical infrastructure, and foster a world-class engineering culture across diverse international teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting the technical vision, managing technology development, and ensuring our platforms continue to meet the evolving needs of our global customers while supporting a distributed, global talent base. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to contribute from anywhere.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the overall technology strategy and roadmap, aligning with the company's business goals and global expansion plans.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse, global engineering and product development team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable, secure, and performant cloud-based commerce platforms.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, architectural standards, and operational efficiency across all technical teams.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance our product offerings and competitive advantage.
- Manage technology budgets, resources, and vendor relationships effectively.
- Ensure compliance with global regulatory standards and data security best practices.
- Act as a technical evangelist, representing Lightspeed Commerce at industry events, conferences, and with key stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with product management, sales, marketing, and customer success to deliver exceptional customer value.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a senior technology leadership role (VP of Engineering, CTO, etc.) within a global SaaS or e-commerce company.
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices architecture.
- Demonstrated ability to build, scale, and lead high-performing, distributed engineering teams.
- Deep understanding of modern software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps).
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with a focus on business outcomes.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

- Experience with AI/ML integration into commerce platforms.
- Familiarity with multiple programming languages and frameworks.
- Experience managing technology mergers and acquisitions.
- PhD in a relevant technical field.
