Job Description

Are you passionate about film, cameras, and visual storytelling but lack professional experience? Aurora Borealis Productions is excited to offer a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic Cinematography & Camera Department Intern. This entry-level internship is designed for individuals eager to learn the fundamentals of camera operation, lighting, and cinematic techniques from experienced professionals. You will gain invaluable hands-on experience in a professional production environment, supporting our camera department on various projects. Full training will be provided, making this the perfect stepping stone into the film and media industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting cinematographers and camera operators during shoots.
  • Setting up and breaking down camera equipment, lights, and grip gear.
  • Learning about different camera types, lenses, and accessories.
  • Supporting the camera department with equipment maintenance and organization.
  • Participating in pre-production planning and post-production tasks as needed.
  • Ensuring all equipment is handled with care and safety protocols are followed.
  • Actively seeking to learn and understand on-set etiquette and production workflows.

Required Skills

  • A strong passion for film, photography, and visual media.
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
  • Physical capability to assist with lifting and moving equipment (within reasonable limits).
  • No prior professional experience in cinematography or camera departments is required; we will train you!

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant film, media, or arts program.
  • Personal experience with photography or videography (e.g., amateur projects, YouTube channels).
  • Basic understanding of camera settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) is a plus, but not essential.
  • Familiarity with various lighting equipment and techniques.
