Job Description
This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for a passionate individual eager to contribute to community safety. As a Civil Defense Volunteer Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in building and supporting our volunteer network. You will assist in recruiting, training, and deploying volunteers for various civil defense initiatives, emergency preparedness programs, and community outreach events. No prior experience in civil defense is required; comprehensive training will be provided to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in this vital role. This position offers a chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of Lee’s Summit residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new volunteers for civil defense programs.
- Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments for training sessions and community events.
- Support the development and delivery of volunteer training materials and exercises.
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer participation, hours, and certifications.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for volunteer inquiries and support.
- Help organize and execute community outreach events focused on emergency preparedness.
- Collaborate with local emergency services and community partners as directed.
- Provide administrative support to the Civil Defense team, including scheduling and communications.
Required Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, email, internet research).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- A genuine desire to serve the community and a passion for helping others.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some experience in a customer service, administrative, or public-facing role (can be volunteer experience).
