Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Corporate Communications Head to lead our global communication strategy. This pivotal role involves shaping and protecting Lakeland’s reputation, managing media relations, overseeing internal communications, and developing compelling narratives that resonate with our diverse stakeholders worldwide. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in strategic communications, crisis management, and stakeholder engagement, with a keen understanding of both traditional and digital media landscapes. You will be instrumental in building and maintaining strong relationships with media, industry partners, and our internal teams, ensuring consistent messaging aligned with our brand values and business objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive corporate communications strategies aligned with business goals and brand identity.
- Manage all external communications, including media relations, press releases, public affairs, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Oversee internal communications to foster a cohesive culture and ensure employees are informed and engaged.
- Act as the primary spokesperson for the company when necessary and prepare senior leadership for media engagements.
- Lead crisis communications planning and execution, safeguarding the company's reputation during challenging situations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts, industry influencers, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyse media coverage, preparing reports and insights for the executive team.
- Collaborate with marketing, HR, and investor relations teams to ensure integrated and consistent messaging.
- Manage and mentor a small team of communications professionals.
- Ensure all communications adhere to legal, ethical, and brand guidelines.
Required Skills
- Minimum 10 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing successful communication strategies.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and compelling storytelling.
- Proven media relations expertise and strong relationships with journalists and media outlets.
- Experience in crisis management and reputation protection.
- Ability to work effectively with senior executives and cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in digital communication platforms and social media strategy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Experience in the retail, FMCG, or homeware sector.
