Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Court Bailiff / Security Officer to ensure the safety and security of judicial proceedings, court personnel, and the general public within our court facilities in Katy, TX. This vital role involves maintaining order, enforcing rules, and providing security services to prevent disruptions and ensure the smooth operation of court functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of security and administrative duties, working within a structured environment that values professionalism and public service.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain order and decorum within courtrooms and adjacent areas.
- Provide security for judges, court staff, jurors, witnesses, and the public.
- Conduct security screenings of individuals entering court facilities.
- Escort defendants, witnesses, and other parties as directed.
- Respond to emergencies and disturbances, implementing appropriate safety protocols.
- Serve warrants, summons, and other legal documents as required.
- Inspect courtrooms and related areas for potential security risks.
- Operate and monitor security equipment, including CCTV and access control systems.
- Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate daily logs.
- Enforce court rules and policies consistently and fairly.
Required Skills
- Strong observational and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Proficiency in de-escalation techniques.
- Physical fitness to perform security duties, including standing for long periods and responding to emergencies.
- Basic knowledge of security procedures and law enforcement principles.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in law enforcement, military, or security services.
- Completion of a police academy or security training program.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures.
