Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Culinology & Food Innovation Intern to join our dynamic Research & Development team in Houston, TX. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in product development, culinary science, and food innovation within a leading global food company. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced food scientists and culinologists, contributing to exciting projects that bring new and improved products to market. This is an entry-level position designed to provide comprehensive training and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and optimization of new and existing food products, from concept to commercialization.
- Prepare and execute culinary prototypes in a professional kitchen and lab setting, ensuring accurate ingredient measurement and process adherence.
- Conduct sensory evaluations and gather consumer feedback to refine product formulations and improve taste, texture, and appearance.
- Support the R&D team with experimental design, data collection, and analysis.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory and kitchen environment, adhering to all food safety and sanitation protocols.
- Document experimental procedures, results, and observations meticulously.
- Research and stay informed about emerging food trends, ingredients, and culinary techniques.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Operations, and Quality Assurance.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Culinology, Food Science, Culinary Arts, or a closely related field.
- Basic understanding of food preparation techniques and culinary principles.
- Strong passion for food, culinary arts, and product innovation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
- Proactive attitude and eagerness to learn and contribute.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed at least one year of coursework related to Culinology, Food Science, or Culinary Arts.
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen, food lab, or relevant academic project work.
- Familiarity with HACCP or other food safety principles.
- Knowledge of basic nutritional principles and food labeling regulations.
